Monogamy in the Winter, Dating in the Spring

It is a common phenomenon that in the winter couples stay together, because are bunkering down for the winter, and in the spring they split up to find a new boyfriend or girlfriend. Sounds a little animal like to me, but there seems to be a lot of proof for this theory. There definitely is more dating going on in the summer months in NYC.

I haven’t really been in the mood lately to date. I definitely feel like I’ve been dating for eons now, and it’s time to give it a rest. All the guys I’ve been meeting lately from internet dating have all been lame. They either are butt ugly, with no personality, gay, or they live with their mommies. All of which are unacceptable.

At this point I know all the things I don’t want in a guy. I know I want someone that is friendly, smart, nice, responsible and generous, but I really think all these guys are married. Maybe it’s time I let my mother set me up with someone.

  • It's totally seasonal. Once the air had gotten a bit crisper at night, I decided I needed a break from dating. Last year around this time I was just starting a relationship that lasted until just about summer. I don't know whether to be frightened or relieved that I am part of this nyc dating cycle.

  • It's funny that you wrote this because just this week I was thinking that I need to have a talk with a couple guys I see casually. I want to find someone a bit more steady and permanent.
